Structured Cabling Scope of Work

1. System Design & Standards

  • Design and implementation in compliance with:

    • TIA/EIA-568, TIA-942 (Datacenter Standard)

    • ISO/IEC 11801, ANSI/BICSI standards.

  • Structured cabling shall support voice, data, video, security, and building management systems.

  • Cabling topology: star/hierarchical design with Main Distribution Areas (MDA), Horizontal Distribution Areas (HDA), and Zone Distribution Areas (ZDA).

2. Copper Cabling Scope

  • Installation of Category 6A (or higher) unshielded/shielded twisted pair cables.

  • Horizontal cabling from telecom rooms to work area outlets.

  • Backbone copper cabling between telecom rooms and equipment rooms (if required).

  • Patch panels, faceplates, and information outlets.

  • Patch cords and cross-connects, properly dressed and labeled.

3. Fiber Optic Cabling Scope

  • Backbone cabling with singlemode OS2 and multimode OM4/OM5 fibers.

  • Fiber optic links between:

    • Main Distribution Frames (MDF) and Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDF).

    • Datacenter core switches and distribution switches.

  • Rack-mounted ODFs, fiber enclosures, cassettes (LC/MTP).

  • MPO/MTP cabling for high-density applications (40G/100G).

  • Proper bend radius protection and slack storage.

4. Pathways & Containment

  • Overhead ladder racks, basket trays, and fiber runners.

  • Underfloor conduits and trays (if raised floor).

  • Separation of copper, fiber, and power pathways to avoid EMI.

  • Vertical risers and raceways for inter-floor cabling.

5. Labeling & Documentation

  • Labeling in compliance with TIA-606-B standards.

  • Unique identifiers for each cable, patch panel port, and outlet.

  • As-built drawings showing routes, rack elevations, and termination points.

  • Cable database in Excel/CSV format for O&M.

6. Testing & Certification

  • Copper testing with Fluke DSX/DTX testers (wiremap, NEXT, PSNEXT, return loss, attenuation).

  • Fiber testing:

    • Optical Loss Test with power meter/light source.

    • OTDR testing for end-to-end verification.

  • Certification reports provided for each installed link.

  • All cabling to meet 10G/40G/100G Ethernet application support.

7. Deliverables

  • Complete test reports for copper and fiber.

  • As-built documentation (AutoCAD/PDF).

  • Labeling database.

  • Warranty certificates (25-year system warranty if using Panduit/CommScope/Siemon, etc.).

  • O&M manual with maintenance guidelines.
